Choosing which are the most relevant and productive groups to join in LinkedIn can be a bit of a minefield. You join and then realise there’s not much discussion, not many members and the ones that are there are your competitors!

So how do we choose the best LinkedIn Group for our business?

First, select “Groups You May Like” from the Groups Menu

Groups You May Like

Next, choose your group – here I’ve chosen “Training Professionals”, then select “check out insightful statistics”…

Choose the group then Insightful Statistics

Finally, under Insightful Statistics you can see, a summary of member numbers, the demographics of the group, it’s rate of growth and how active it is.

This should give you an insight into whether this group is relevant to your target market and worth spending time in.

Which LinkedIn groups have you found most relevant and useful to your business?

We can look for people on LinkedIn for a number of reasons:

To build our business network

Research a persons experience and recommendations, before we meet them

Looking for a local supplier

Looking for a new member of staff

Searching for a new employer

Researching the competition

Depending on the type of research we are doing you may or may not want the person who is doing the research to know who you are. That’s why it’s useful to know there are settings which allow you to choose “What other’s see when you’ve viewed their profile”

Simply go to “Settings” >> “Profile” and select the link “Select what others see when you’ve viewed their profile”.

You can choose from the 3 different settings below:

Changing your settings for "What others see when you've viewed their profile"

But remember if you choose to restrict what people see – this will mean you’ll lose your profile stats – so you won’t know who’s viewed you.
